TRYOUTS RESULTS AND NEXT STEPS

Main tryouts are done, now what?

TRYOUTS RESULTS AND NEXT STEPS

Tryout Process:  The main part of tryouts and evaluations has been finalized. Players were evaluated considering the four pillars of the Parkland Soccer Club model; technical, tactical, physical and psychological. Players would have been offered a spot in a team, based on the coaches' perceived level of challenge that would be best for the player's development. As discussed in our meetings, please keep in mind that the evaluation process continuous during the season and the club may change the challenge for players to help with their growth. The following age groups are still holding either open practices or extended tryouts to identify additional players:

  • Girls 2012, 2010, 2009 and 2007
  • Boys 2015, 2014, 2011, 2008 and 2007

We want to thank all of the players that participated in the tryouts for their hard work and dedication and encourage them to continue working and looking for opportunities to grow and compete.

Tryout Results: If your child was or is selected for a team, they would have received or will receive an invitation via email to join the team. That communication is normally followed up with a phone call either by the coach or the one of the Directors of the club. Our goal is to finalize all  rosters and have completed meetings by mid June.

Amount of players per team:  Roster Size: Whenever possible, coaches are encouraged to form rosters that will allow all players significant playing time over the course of a season. Coaches are encouraged to build rosters that allow players the opportunity to experience meaningful competition during each match.  Coaches are encouraged to roster only those players who can maintain the competitive level of their particular team.

The following are the roster sizes for the different age groups in PSC travel soccer program.

  • 2016’s (U8), 2015's (U9) & 2014’s (U10) Teams 7 vs. 7 game format 10-12 players on each team

Team Meeting & Meet the Coach: Coaches will have team meetings by June 15th at the latest. Except for teams currently working on extended tryouts, Coaches will work to have their meetings before everyone goes away for the summer.

Tournaments: Each team will participate in two or three tournaments.  Upon approval, Teams may travel outside of the tri-county area. This cost is additional. More information and an estimated budget will be provided at a later date.

Training Schedule: Players are required to attend all of their age group training days and times. Teams train three days per week.  The 2016-2012 teams typically train from 5:30 pm – 6:45 pm and the 2012-2009 teams typically train from 6:45 pm - 8:00 pm and the 2009s-2005s teams typically train from 8:00 pm - 9:15 pm .  The training schedules will be finalized throughout the summer and emailed to you by your team manager or coach.

Team Managers: The work of the club is not done in isolation and volunteers make an incredible difference in the ability of a team to perform and grow. If you would like to help your team as a team manager, please let your coach know so that he/she can connect you with the club's operations group and the registrar.
